One floppy disk. One month. Zero game engines.

Every byte mattered. Salvage Run was developed for the 2P Game Arcade 1.44 MB Game Jam, where the entire game—including executable, graphics, audio, and assets—had to fit on a single uncompressed 1.44 MB floppy disk. Instead of relying on Unity or Unreal, every system was written specifically for this project.

Salvage Run is a fast-paced retro arcade game built for the 1.44 MB Game Jam. Inspired by a Commodore 64 game originally written over forty years ago, it has been completely rebuilt from scratch in C using the Win32 API and GDI.

Pilot a salvage ship through increasingly dangerous asteroid fields while hostile UFOs compete for the same valuable wreckage. Recover every piece of salvage to complete each sector, earn bonus points, and push your score higher.

No game engine. No middleware. Just old-school native code and classic arcade gameplay.
